DEDICATION

This website is dedicated to the thousands of volunteers and professionals who have made Scouting possible in San Diego County and Imperial County. These remarkable people have influenced the lives of over one hundred thousand boys and girls of the San Diego-Imperial Council. We dedicate it also to those Scouters present and future, who continue the tradition of service to youth and community through the Scouting Program.

IN MEMORY OF…

This website is in memory of Joel M. Warner, a good friend and mentor. Joel touched many lives, young and old, through his volunteerism at the Unit, District and Council level; through his work at Council Camps as Campmaster; and through his Coyote Stories at evening campfires.

OBJECTIVE

We trust that you will enjoy reading this history of the San Diego-Imperial Council. Our goal is to create a compendium of stories from the experiences of many contributors. The stories you find in these pages will give you an understanding and appreciation of Southern California Scouting. You will find stories about great Scout leaders, youth, and community organizations who have both contributed to and benefited from the program. We hope our stories will inspire and motivate you as they do us. We encourage you to get involved and to continue your involvement and contributions to this great movement.

ORIGIN

This website is the vision of Kevin L. Ewers. His goal to find, archive and recreate the history of this Council led him to kindrid spirits who share his vision. A committee of two was formed in the Spring of 2005, and others have joined along the way. This narrative began in March 2005. Our goal is to present as a complete a story as possible of the Council by the end of 2009.

In gathering facts, we have done our best to provide accurate details and names of people and places. However, we realize that this website can never be complete. Many names and facts about events and key players have, over the years, simply been lost. This website is a touchstone. If you can provide missing facts, names of key individuals, stories, anecdotes, photographs, or corrections, please contact Kevin L. Ewers.
